Done...
So, another job down the tubes. I mean, I should have quit this place a long time ago. With the exception of the 3 opening nights where we gave away free food, I never made more than $30 in one night. And, that $30 was just a very lucky night for me. I WAS averaging $5 a night. I usually got to work, set stuff up, MAYBE got one table and then the manager would cut me around 7:30 p.m. and I went home. I had two tables on like maybe 2 or 3 nights, but for the most part, I either had zero tables or one table and then I'd get sent home. I had to drive 30 miles to get there and I had to drive 30 miles to get home. The food was great. It really was. But, unfortunately, the word hasn't gotten out and I don't think it's going to survive. How can anyone survive on that salary? We made minimum wage, so we at least got a tiny little pay check every other week, but that was it.
To top things off, I am like really pissed off about a few things. There was like 3 nights where a large party would come in. And, if a large party comes in you are guaranteed a decent night because we add 18% gratuity. So, of course, this is where the whole favoratism bullshit comes in. During training, the manager was totally hitting on this girl, Bridget. I couldn't stand her. After work, the whole staff went out drinking a few times and Bridget and the manager were hanging all over each other. I wasn't there, but, this is what I heard from several people. He's married too. Slimeball. Anyway, apparently they left together after getting wasted at teh bar and word on the street is that they were probably fucking. So, of course, everyone noticed that he was giving her the best sections in the restaurant and he was giving her the best schedule. She kept getting like Friday and Saturday nights and I was getting fucking Monday and Tuesday. He also gave her those large parties, with the guaranteed money. And, the last night that I was working a big party came in and he gave it to his friend that helped him open the place. Like, I came in at 4 to open and we do a rotation, so I should get the first table. Well, it was a reservation, so we knew about it before we opened. So, technically, it was the first table. But, alas, he tells his buddy to push four tables together and set it for 12 people. Even though, I was first in the rotation. God, I was pissed.
So - last straw - I filled out a vacation request form 2 weeks before I went to L.A. and when the schedule comes out, he schedules me for the days I requested off. Fucking moron. Can't read obviously. As soon as I saw the schedule, I called him and he took me off those days, but he wouldn't give me any more days. Like, I was hoping to work Friday or Saturday or both and he said he was sick of changing the schedule, so it was staying that way. Well, whatever, it's certainly not my fault that he can't write a schedule and that he had to keep changing it - it's bullshit! I can't do it anymore. I'm spending more money in gas then I'm making. Too much wear and tear on the car and not enough money coming in. So, once again, I'm jobless and searching...
Any suggestons kiddies??

Any restaurant working on a rotation system instead of sections is not busy enough to keep the waitstaff employeed. You will find a better fit.

Carmen,
You could try pet-sitting as a new job. The pay is decent (though not extraordinary), and you'd get to hang out and take care of animals all day. There's normally frequent traveling involved, although you can usually limit your coverage area. The more sitting you do, the more money you make. A good place to do research is PSI's website (www.petsit.com).

Good luck. The search is frustrating, but you will find something better.

Suggestions? Gee, I don't know.
I hear things are a bit slow in the Poker Rooms right now as far as dealers go.
Maybe its time for you to start playing poker for a living?
At the top of the page it reads "Poker Girl in Vegas" it don't read "Waitress in Vegas".

Concerning playing poker:
I know you are rather close to the felt right now but poker seems to be where your interest and abilities lie and I just don't see why you want to drive thirty miles to wait on empty tables when you can drive only a few miles to The Venetian's poker room and skewer some tourist.
